Pierce County Fair and Heart of America Library Summer Reading Challenge was a great success for our youth. We handed out 35 read and win ribbons and wristband coupons for the PCF. That means we had more than 350 library books read through the month of June by our kids!! Way to Go Kids – we are proud of you!!
Heart of America Library is hosting another opportunity for Summer Reading Camp this year; July (the 26, 27, 28) for one hour each day from 2 – 3pm. We had a great turn out in June with a total of 10 children. We invite kids grades one through six to join Miss Angela and the library staff for one more All Together Now Summer Reading Camp at the library. We will have more games, activities, and reading goals with a grand prize of a bike! Who doesn’t want to win a bike for reading books?? What if you can’t make it every day? That is ok! We’re glad to see you as often as you are able to make it.
The literacy committee will be doing story hour one more time this summer on July 14 from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. We will post reminders on Facebook and our website. Story hour will resume in September, watch for updates!
HOA Library will have books for sale on Crazy Day for the incredible price of FREE!
The next book club will be Tuesday, August 1st at 10am. We are reading Little Fires Everywhere, A Novel by Celeste Ng. A brief description reads, “In Shaker Heights, a placid, progressive suburb of Cleveland, everything is planned – from the layout of the winding roads – to the colors of the houses, to the successful lives its residents will go on to lead. And no one embodies this spirit more than Elena Richardson, whose guiding principle is playing by the rules. Enter Mia Warren – an enigmatic artist and single mother – who arrives in this idyllic bubble with her teenage daughter, Pearl, and a disregard for the status quo that threatens to upend this carefully ordered community. Suspicious of Mia and her motives, Elena is determined to uncover the secrets in Mia’s past. But her obsession will come at unexpected and devastating costs. Little Fires Everywhere explores the weight of secrets, the nature of art and identity, the ferocious pull of motherhood – and the danger of believing that following the rules can avert disaster.”
The Library Board of Trustees will meet Monday, July 10 at 9:00 AM in the west meeting room at the library. The public is welcome to attend these meetings.
ND Job Service Outreach will be here on Wednesday, August 2 from 10 – 12:30.
