Our All Together Now 2023 Summer Reading Camp was a great success. We offered opportunities in June and July for children grades 1 – 6 to participate in activities, games, and reading challenges. We had 20 children participate and these amazing kids read, combined, over 1,022 books. A special congratulations to our grand prize winner of a bike, Loucie Boucher.
I read! You read! We ALL read for Ice Cream! Heart of America Library and Baldy’s Pizza are partnering to bring you a reading challenge for the month of August. Your challenge is to read 10 library books and you will receive a token for a FREE ice cream cone from Baldy’s. Do you accept the challenge? (Yes, adults can participate, too!)
Heart of America Library is hosting a School Supply Drive on Thursday, August 17 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. for the amazing teachers and fantastic students of Ely, Little Flower, and Rugby High School. We have the school supply lists available for Ely and Little Flower at the Library, if you need one. Bring your donations to the Library on August 17.
Our next Story Hour will be on Friday, August 18 from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. We will celebrate Welcome to School.
Our next Book Discussion group will meet Tuesday, September 5 at 10 a.m. We’ll discuss the book If You Tell by Gregg Olsen. A true story of murder, family secrets, and the unbreakable bond of sisterhood. Stop by and get your copy today!
I’d like to take a moment to highlight the Talking Book Program from the North Dakota State Library. This program offers an array of services for citizens of North Dakota who are unable to read standard print materials because of a visual, physical, or reading disability. The Talking Book Program provides patrons with FREE access to audio books and magazines. The Program is administered by the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS), a division of the Library of Congress. Please stop by the library for more information or check out the ND State Library website. You can also check out the online handbook they’ve put together for your information. The online catalog has over 300,000 titles to choose from.
