March 2024 – Library News

March is coming in like a lion! Perfect weather to snuggle up with a good book, in this writers opinion. Hopefully March decides to go out like a lamb for the Easter holiday.

We have several fun activities going on in March at Your Heart of America Library. We’ve brought back the Limerick Contest for the beginning of March. Submit your best library limerick by March 9. We’ll ask the public to vote on the best one between March 10 – 14. Winners announced on March 15. All winners will get a free book. We’ve enjoyed some great submissions so far – drop off yours today, or email it to heartofamerica@hotmail.com, or text it to Mandie or Robin, or mail it to us, or send a carrier pigeon.

We’ve been invited by the North Dakota State Library to join them along with the USDA, the US Forest Service, and the US Department of Agriculture in celebrating Smokey Bear’s 80th Birthday this year. Stop by the HOA Library to get your information kit and start the Smokey Bear Reading Challenge. Remember, Only You Can Prevent Wildfires!

April 3, 2024 will bring children’s author Kevin Lovegreen to Your Heart of America Library. Kevin will have a Reading Frenzy Assembly in the morning and afternoon for students from Ely and Little Flower schools. Kevin will also have an adult Lunch and Learn from 11:30 – 12:45 for folks interested in learning more about the process of writing.

We are thinking of summer already – Reading for a Wristband, Adventure Begins at Your Library Summer Reading Program, We All Read for Ice Cream – all coming soon to Your Heart of America Library.

Let’s look forward even further into the future, specifically July 16, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. Author and former ND Agriculture Commissioner, Sarah Vogel, will be at Your Heart of America Library on the Great Reads from Great Places Tour sponsored by the ND State Library. We look forward to hosting Sarah Vogel and learning about her book, The Farmer’s Lawyer. We’ll share more information soon!
