Library News September 16, 2022

The next story hour is Friday, September 30 from 10:15 to 11:15 AM.   All children 5 and under are welcome!  We do ask that children 3 or under be attended by an adult.

The Village Arts Summer art program, taught by Julia Petrovic, is currently on display at the library. This student art show featuring work from grades one through 12 will be up through the end of September.

September is library card sign up month!  Since 1987, it has been held to mark the beginning of the school year to encourage kids to sign up for library cards.  We encourage everyone to stop in and sign up for a library card.  Although we don’t have physical library cards that we give out, you need to be in our computer system to borrow from the library. Just fill out a card with your name and address.  If you are a resident of Pierce County, it is free!  If you live outside of Pierce County, it is $5.00 per year.  In addition to physical books, magazines, and dvds, you can also access our online collection through the Libby app on your phone or device. If we do not have the book you want, we can borrow it through interlibrary loan.

There will be a book sale Friday, September 23 and Saturday, September 24 during regular library hours and will continue the following week September 26 through October 1.

September 18-24 is Banned Books Week. Did you know the right to read what you choose is protected in The Constitution? We will have a series of Facebook posts next week that focus on Banned Books and the Freedom to Read. These will also be posted on the website “Library News” next week.
